FBM Digest #36: How to hack profitable ads, get on TV, and more...

Hey, I found five new golden sales and marketing nuggets. Check them out below because I think you'll like them:

1. FBM EXPERT TIP:

If you could predict with 90% accuracy what ads would produce great results for your business, you would have no fear in running them right?

I'm guessing that's the thought behind a new feature TikTok just released.

It's called 'Top Products' and it allows users to track the popularity of ads people are running. The popularity is based on the number of ads posted featuring the item, along with metrics such as impressions, view-through rate, comments, and likes, providing valuable insights into the performance of each product.

You can find top Products in the Creative Center and can filter the list by region and category and view data from the last day, 7 days, or 30 days.

The best part is, you can find an ad that matches your niche, click for more details, and TikTok will show you valuable insights such as cost, CTR, impressions, and even cost per acquisition.

Hopefully other platforms will follow suit because this removes the guesswork of running ads.

Polly Powell is a TikTok expert on the marketplace, so if you want to take advantage of this before everyone else does, send her a message via her profile here.

2. MARKETING TIP OF THE WEEK:

Like many new business owners and entrepreneurs, I'm guessing you don't have millions of dollars to spend on marketing. However, you're in luck. I've got a way to get you a lot of credibility, trust, and traffic for free.

...if you're willing to get a little uncomfortable.

See, by starting your own business, you're doing something few people have the nerve to do. And, while you might not find it very interesting, I know some people who will...

Your local news teams.

Local news teams are desperate for interesting stories about the people in their town or county.

If you contact one explaining what you are doing and why, there is a high chance they will feature you on their website, newspaper, even TV show.

Getting featured in the local news will give you fantastic exposure and credibility in your community. Plus, you can use it in your marketing and be seen as an expert in your field.

To make your story exciting for the news team and its readers, focus on the unique aspects of your business or service. Highlight your business' USP, share your passion for your work and the challenges you've overcome, and emphasize your business's impact on the local community.

I did this several years ago when I was trekking to Mt. Everest Basecamp for charity, and it drove a lot of donations. Give this a try. You will be surprised how much interest you get in return.

(I tried to find the feature from the paper to show you but couldn't. I'll keep looking and share it when I do.)

3. TOP TIP FROM A FELLOW COMMUNITY MEMBER:

I don't need to tell you that most prospects won't buy or opt in the first time they come across your offer. The majority of people need to see a message 5, 6, 7 times before they take action.

But are you accounting for this in your marketing?

Check out the story below from Sarah to get an idea of what can happen when you do:

"If your sales or opt-ins are low, this will help... I offer high-ticket services in a very specific niche, and my funnel is a Facebook ad, to a VSL, to an application form.

I was getting a good amount of traffic to the page. I could see people were watching the VSL to the end. But very few then filled out the application form (for example, in October, only 9 people filled out the application form.)

A little discouraged, I mentioned my low numbers to a mentor who suggested using retargeting ads to highlight additional benefits of my service and bring people back to the page. Feeling excited about the potential of this new approach, I had my marketing person create 3 different retargeting ads.

To my delight, they made a huge difference. In November, without changing anything else, I had 22 people complete my application form. Meaning I achieved a 2.4x increase in bookings!

And, the cost per click of the retargeting ads was super cheap. My normal ads average $1.76 per click, whereas the retargeting ads are only $0.60.

Try retargeting the people who have seen you offer with more testimonials, benefits, etc. and I think you'll see a nice increase in opt-ins."

4. FUNNEL OF THE WEEK:

I really like this week's funnel by Phil Tyler. It's short, sharp, and straight to the point.

Take a look here, get some ideas, and email me anything you think Phil could split-test.

HELP NEEDED:

I've run out of funnels to share. If you've been on the fence about sharing yours, send it my way. If you've built a funnel for someone else (funnel builders, I'm looking at you) send it my way.

5. FOOD FOR THOUGHT:

“Excellence is never an accident. It is always the result of high intention, sincere effort and intelligent execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives – choice, not chance, determines your destiny.”

— Aristotle

Have an excellent week,
