Rolodex Digest #21: Bad landing page continuity, a simple tip to improve referrals by 140%, and more...

To decide the winners of the raffle, I asked my wonderful wife, Ashton, to pick 5 numbers between 1 and 1073 (the total number of tickets for the raffle).

And the winners are...........

Ticket number: 1073 - Heath

Ticket number: 626 - Darren

Ticket number: 19 - Puja Misra

Ticket number: 784 - Mohamed

Ticket number: 3 - Ben

Well done to the winners and thank you all for entering!! We will definitely be doing something like this again :) I will be reaching out to you today to explain the next steps.

Now, for 5 more golden nuggets...

1. ROLODEX EXPERT TIP:

Mike Harris (one of Clickfunnels' top funnel builders) told me one of the most overlooked conversion rate killers is bad ad to landing page continuity.

Landing pages are the first direct connection between your leads and your business. And, when the competition is high, the first impression is vital.

The 1st step to creating a good experience for your leads is to make sure the promise presented in your ad matches the copy on your landing page.

An example of bad message continuity:

Ad - Get 50% off a brand-new iPhone 14

Landing page - Welcome to Mike’s Technology Store

An example of good message continuity:

Ad - Get 50% off a brand-new iPhone 14

Landing page - 50% off a brand-new iPhone 14 at Mike’s Technology Store.

If you need a high-converting funnel (or someone to improve your current funnel), you'd be hard-pressed to find someone as experienced as Mike. Check out his profile and message him here.

2. MARKETING TIP OF THE WEEK:

Max Maher runs the Phoenix branch of Skinny Wimp Moving, a removal company in America.

Around 5% of sales come directly from client referrals. Max wanted to see if he could improve this number. So he ran a little experiment:

He gathered a list of 100 previous clients and created a package to mail them. Each package included:

• A thank you card

• A handwritten letter

• A lottery ticket

• 5 business cards

The results...

9 weeks later, the results were in:

Sales coming from referrals had shot up by 140%! This equated to an additional $5,200 every month in total revenue.

Why did this work so well?

To quote Max, "When everyone else is ploughing money into Adwords, I think there is an opportunity out there to be a human, build trust, and stand out from the crowd."

Could you do something similar for Christmas or the New Year?

3. TOP TIP FROM A FELLOW COMMUNITY MEMBER:

Marketing expert Harry of MarketingExamples.com said recently, "I've been chatting to the owner of a decorative concrete company.

Each month they pay $600/mo for an ad in a local magazine that gets sent to 7000 wealthy homes in Georgia. Last 3 months, they've made $75,000 from these ads.

Don't complicate marketing. Fish where the fish are."

4. FUNNEL OF THE WEEK:

This week's funnel comes from a big name in the marketing world. It has been running successfully for years. And anyone can create their own version with ease. Check it out

here.

5. FOOD FOR THOUGHT:

“You can’t just place a few ‘Buy’ buttons on your website and expect your visitors to buy.” - Neil Patel
